Applications

The Symbol LS 4000i series was a widely deployed handheld laser barcode scanner from the late 1990s and early 2000s, commonly found in retail point-of-sale counters, stockrooms, receiving docks, and light industrial environments. Symbol Technologies (later acquired by Motorola Solutions and subsequently Zebra Technologies) was a dominant supplier of barcode scanning equipment during this era, and the LS 4000 series was one of their flagship handheld corded scanners. These scanners read standard 1D barcodes including UPC-A, UPC-E, EAN, Code 39, Code 128, and Interleaved 2 of 5. The RJ-45 interface connects to Symbol-compatible cradles or decoder boxes, making this a practical replacement or spare unit for legacy Symbol-based POS and inventory systems still in service today.
