Applications
The Packard Bell Multimedia 820 dates from the mid-to-late 1990s, the era when Pentium-class and Pentium-compatible processors (including Cyrix's MII line) were the mainstream desktop standard. The Cyrix MII-300 was a socket 7 processor compatible with the same platform as Intel's Pentium MMX and AMD's K6, offering Pentium-class performance at a lower price point. Systems like the 820 were designed to run Windows 95 or Windows 98 and were marketed as all-in-one home multimedia and internet PCs — hence the CD-ROM, modem, and integrated audio. Today, machines like this are sought by vintage PC collectors, retro gaming enthusiasts, and hobbyists running period-correct DOS and early Windows software. The two ISA slots alongside three PCI slots reflect the transitional nature of late-1990s PC architecture, when ISA was giving way to PCI but legacy ISA peripherals were still widely used.
This Packard Bell Multimedia 820 607G tower PC has been pulled from a working environment where it was previously in use. It has been visually inspected and photographed inside and out. The beige plastic exterior shows normal yellowing and light surface scuffs typical of mid-1990s computer equipment of this age. The front drive bays, floppy drive, and CD-ROM are present and intact. The interior shows the motherboard, Cyrix MII-300 processor, RAM, and expansion slots in place with no obvious physical damage. It has not been powered up or bench-tested at our facility.
