Description
Ohmeda BiliBlanket 6600-0104-900 Phototherapy Light 100-240V Neonatal Jaundice
The Ohmeda BiliBlanket 6600-0104-900 is a fiberoptic phototherapy light source designed for the treatment of neonatal hyperbilirubinemia (jaundice) in newborns. It serves as the illuminator unit in the BiliBlanket system, coupling to a fiberoptic pad that wraps around the infant to deliver therapeutic blue-spectrum light directly to the skin. A brightness control knob on the front panel allows adjustment of light output intensity. The unit features a Power indicator and an Air Flow Failure indicator to alert clinicians to operational status, and carries a universal dual-voltage power supply suitable for use in both North American and international clinical settings.

Applications
The Ohmeda BiliBlanket system was developed to provide phototherapy for neonatal jaundice (hyperbilirubinemia) — a common condition in newborns in which excess bilirubin accumulates in the blood. The light source unit pairs with a flexible fiberoptic illuminator pad that wraps around or is placed beneath the infant, delivering therapeutic blue-green light (approximately 425–475 nm) that photoisomerizes bilirubin in the skin, converting it to a water-soluble form that the body can excrete without liver processing. This wearable fiberoptic approach, developed in the late 1980s and widely adopted through the 1990s, allowed phototherapy to continue during feeding and holding — a significant improvement over overhead phototherapy lamps that required the infant to remain stationary under a light bank. The BiliBlanket system was used in hospital neonatal units (NICUs and well-baby nurseries) and also supported home phototherapy programs for early-discharge newborns under physician supervision. Ohmeda, a division of BOC Health Care, was a major supplier of neonatal and anesthesia equipment to hospitals through this era.
This Ohmeda BiliBlanket 6600-0104-900 Phototherapy Light is in used condition and has been pulled from a working clinical environment where it was previously in service. The unit has been visually inspected and photographed. The housing shows light surface wear consistent with normal clinical use — the cream-colored side panels and black front face show minor scuffing. All front-panel controls are present, including the power switch, brightness adjustment knob, Power indicator, and Air Flow Failure indicator. The light output port cover is in place. The unit has not been powered up or tested at our facility. Please review all photos carefully and contact us with any questions before purchasing.
