Applications

The Northern Telecom Conference 2000 was a dedicated conference telephone system developed by Northern Telecom (Nortel) in the 1980s and aimed at corporate boardrooms and executive conference rooms. The Conference 2000 system was notable for its industrial design — the speaker modules, microphone pods, and control unit were housed in distinctive wood-veneer enclosures intended to blend with executive office furniture rather than look like telephone equipment. The acoustic module served as the loudspeaker component of the system, typically placed at the center of a conference table and connected to the control unit via the multi-pin DIN cable. These systems were widely deployed in large North American corporations during the 1980s and early 1990s and are now sought by vintage telecom collectors and facilities restoring period-correct conference rooms. Replacement units are also needed by organizations that still maintain legacy Conference 2000 installations.
