Applications

The WPN824 is a mid-2000s 802.11g era home wireless router, designed for sharing a DSL or cable broadband connection among multiple wired and wireless devices. RangeMax MIMO technology, introduced by Netgear around 2004–2005, used multiple antennas to improve signal range and throughput compared to standard 802.11g routers of the period. It was a common choice for home networking before the widespread adoption of 802.11n (Wi-Fi 4) hardware. Today, units like this are typically used for legacy setups, retro networking environments, or as secondary access points in networks where 802.11g client devices are still in use.
