The Microdyne 1400-MR is a modular rackmount telemetry receiver designed for ground-station reception and demodulation of airborne, range, and missile telemetry signals. This unit is equipped with three installed plug-in modules — the 1411-VT(70) RF Tuner covering 50–90 MHz, the 1451-D PM Demodulator, and the 1420-I Series IF Filter Amplifier — providing a complete FM/PM/AM receive and demodulate chain in a single chassis. The front panel features red LED digital readouts for RF frequency, video bandwidth, and signal level, plus a numeric keypad for direct frequency entry and storage.

Applications
The Microdyne 1400-MR is a professional telemetry ground station receiver used in range instrumentation, flight test, and missile/drone tracking applications. Microdyne (later acquired by Aydin, then L3 Technologies) was a major supplier of telemetry ground station equipment to the U.S. military, NASA, and aerospace test ranges from the 1970s through the 1990s. The 1400-series receivers were designed to receive and demodulate PCM, PAM, and analog FM/PM/AM telemetry signals transmitted from airborne vehicles during test and evaluation missions. Typical deployments included range tracking stations, mobile telemetry vans, and fixed ground stations at sites such as Edwards AFB, White Sands Missile Range, and Wallops Flight Facility. The modular plug-in architecture — with interchangeable RF tuner, demodulator, and IF filter modules — allowed range operators to reconfigure a single chassis for different frequency bands and signal formats. The 1411-VT(70) tuner's 50–90 MHz coverage places this unit in the IRIG lower L-band / S-band transition range used for short- and medium-range vehicle tracking.
This Microdyne 1400-MR Telemetry Receiver has been inspected and is in good used condition. The front-panel LED displays, module labels, and controls all appear intact with no obvious damage. The chassis shows normal wear consistent with lab or range use — light scuffs on the outer housing — but the unit is otherwise clean and presentable. All three modules are installed: the 1411-VT(70) RF Tuner, 1451-D PM Demodulator, and 1420-I Series IF Filter Amplifier. The rear panel BNC connectors and accessory ports appear undamaged.
