Applications
The Stratasys P400-SR is the soluble support material used in Stratasys Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) 3D printers that support SR (soluble release) technology, including the Dimension SST 1200es, Dimension SST 768, and uPrint SE Plus systems. In these printers, a second print head deposits the SR support material beneath and around overhanging geometry during the build. After printing, the support structure dissolves away in a water-based solution using a Stratasys WaveWash system, leaving a clean, smooth part surface without manual breakaway. This approach is especially valuable for complex geometries, internal cavities, and fine-detail models where mechanical support removal would damage the part. Soluble support cartridges like the P400-SR are a consumable item in professional FDM workflows — partially used cartridges with remaining material are a cost-effective option for labs and print shops that need supplemental supply.
