Description
IBM 1503206 PC XT 5150 83-Key Keyboard 5-Pin DIN Clicky Buckling Spring
The IBM 1503206 is the original 83-key keyboard supplied with the IBM 5150 Personal Computer, introduced in 1981. It uses IBM's legendary buckling spring switch mechanism, which produces the crisp tactile bump and audible click that made early IBM keyboards famous and that collectors and enthusiasts still seek out today. The keyboard connects via a coiled cable terminating in a 5-pin DIN plug, which interfaces directly with the IBM PC XT bus keyboard port.

Applications
The IBM 5150 PC XT keyboard was designed for use with the IBM 5150 Personal Computer (1981) and the IBM 5160 PC XT (1983), both of which used the 5-pin DIN keyboard interface. The 83-key layout predates the 101-key Enhanced keyboard introduced with the IBM AT in 1984 and features a distinctive arrangement with function keys arranged in two columns on the left side rather than across the top. These keyboards are sought by vintage computer collectors and hobbyists restoring IBM 5150 and 5160 systems, and by enthusiasts who prize the buckling spring switch feel. The 5-pin DIN interface is electrically and mechanically distinct from the later PS/2 mini-DIN connector, so this keyboard requires either an original XT-compatible system or a dedicated XT-to-modern adapter. This keyboard dates from the very first generation of IBM PC hardware — the early-to-mid 1980s era that defined the IBM PC compatible standard.
This IBM 1503206 83-Key PC XT keyboard has not been powered up or tested at our facility. It was not possible to verify key function or connector operation. The keyboard shows the expected yellowing and aging on the keycaps and beige plastic case that is typical of this era of equipment — visible in the photos. All 83 keys appear to be present. The coiled cable and 5-pin DIN connector are intact and show no obvious physical damage. This item is sold as-is with no guarantee of functionality.
