IBM 1390940 3197 102-Key Keyboard PS/2 5-Pin DIN Lexmark 1994 Model M
The IBM 1390940 is a 102-key keyboard manufactured for IBM by Lexmark, dated February 1994. Applications
The IBM 3197 is a display station (terminal) designed for use with IBM midrange systems, including the AS/400 and its predecessors. The 1390940 keyboard was the standard input device for these terminals in the early-to-mid 1990s, providing the full 102-key layout needed for IBM's 5250-series data-entry and application environments. The 5-pin DIN connector is the terminal-side interface used on IBM display stations of this generation — distinct from the later PS/2 mini-DIN. Today these keyboards remain sought after by vintage computing enthusiasts and collectors for their robust buckling-spring mechanism, as well as by businesses maintaining legacy AS/400 or System/36 terminal setups. A DIN-to-PS/2 or DIN-to-USB adapter is needed to use this keyboard on a modern PC.
This IBM 1390940 3197 102-key keyboard has been inspected and appears to be in good used condition. The keycaps and chassis show light yellowing typical of vintage IBM keyboards of this era, but no cracks, breaks, or missing keycaps are visible. The coiled cable and 5-pin DIN connector are intact. It was pulled from a working environment where it was previously in use, but it has not been powered up or tested at our facility. Please review all photos and contact us if you have any questions.
