Applications
The Honeywell BO1810 is a classic dumb terminal from the late 1970s to mid-1980s era of centralized computing, when operators interacted with mainframes and minicomputers through dedicated display terminals rather than personal computers. Honeywell Information Systems produced a range of terminals and systems aimed at business data processing, including their Series 60/Level 6 and DPS (Distributed Processing System) minicomputer lines. A terminal like the BO1810 would have been connected to a host system via a serial data set (modem or direct-connect interface at J3), with a separate printer port (J2) allowing hardcopy output directly from the terminal session. The three-bank DIP switch configuration on the rear allowed operators or technicians to set communication parameters such as baud rate, parity, and protocol without software. Today these terminals are sought after by vintage computing enthusiasts, museum collectors, and organizations maintaining legacy Honeywell systems or period-accurate computer room setups.
This Honeywell BO1810 Green Phosphor Display Terminal has not been powered up or tested at our facility, but it came out of a working environment where it was previously in use. The unit appears to be in good used condition overall. The housing shows minor scuffing and light surface wear typical of older equipment, and the keyboard keycaps show some yellowing consistent with age. The rear connector panel, DB25 ports, DIP switch banks, and power section all appear intact and undamaged. A DB25 cable is attached to the keyboard port.
