Applications

The HC-800 was Control4's flagship primary controller during its production run, designed to sit at the core of a whole-home or light commercial automation installation. It managed communication between Control4 touch screens, keypads, door stations, thermostats, AV equipment, and third-party devices over IP, serial (RS-232), IR, ZigBee, and Wi-Fi. Installers and integrators used it as the "brain" of a Control4 system, with the processor handling real-time scheduling, event-driven programming, and media distribution logic. The HC-800 was positioned above the HC-250 and HC-300 models in the Control4 lineup and was intended for larger, more complex projects requiring more processing headroom. It remains in use in many installed Control4 systems, though Control4 has since released newer controllers; replacement and repair of existing HC-800 installations is still a common need among residential AV integrators and homeowners maintaining legacy systems.
