The Bay Networks BayStack 304 is a compact desktop 12-port Fast Ethernet switch designed for small workgroups and departmental networks. It provides twelve auto-sensing 10/100BASE-TX RJ-45 ports, a dedicated 100BASE-TX uplink port (Port 13), an MDA expansion slot (Port 14) for optional media modules, and a front-panel DB-9 serial console port for local management access. The unit is auto-negotiating across all ports and supports full-duplex operation.

Applications
The BayStack 304 was part of Bay Networks' BayStack line of workgroup switches, introduced in the mid-to-late 1990s during the widespread transition from shared 10BASE-T Ethernet hubs to switched Fast Ethernet infrastructure. It was designed for small offices, lab environments, and departmental segments where dedicated bandwidth per port was needed without the cost of a chassis-based system. The DB-9 console port allowed local CLI management — a feature that distinguished it from purely unmanaged desktop switches of the era. Bay Networks was acquired by Nortel Networks in 1998, and the BayStack product line continued under the Nortel brand. These units remain useful today for legacy lab networks, isolated test segments, small offices running 10/100 infrastructure, and network collectors.
This Bay Networks BayStack 304 AL2001E05 12-port Ethernet switch has been inspected and is in good used condition. The chassis is clean with light cosmetic wear typical of previously deployed equipment. It was pulled from a working environment where it was previously in use.
