The APC AP9605 PowerNet SNMP Adapter is a Smart Slot network management card that adds SNMP-based remote monitoring and management capability to compatible APC Smart-UPS systems. It installs directly into a Smart Slot on the rear of the UPS and connects to a 10Base-T Ethernet network via a standard RJ-45 port, allowing IT staff to monitor UPS status, receive alerts, and manage the unit remotely through an SNMP network management system or a web browser.

Applications
The AP9605 was designed for use with APC Smart-UPS models equipped with a Smart Slot expansion bay — a common feature on mid-range and enterprise APC UPS units from the mid-1990s through the 2000s. By sliding the card into the Smart Slot, network administrators gain remote visibility into the UPS: load percentage, battery runtime, input/output voltage, temperature, and event logging — all accessible via SNMP traps and GET/SET commands from a network management station. The 10Base-T interface made this card the standard way to integrate an APC UPS into an SNMP-managed data center network before the later AP9617/AP9619 dual-port management card generation. It remains a direct-fit upgrade for legacy APC Smart-UPS installations where Smart Slot management is needed but a newer card is not available or not cost-justified.
