Applications
The 1769 Compact I/O family is used with Allen-Bradley CompactLogix programmable automation controllers (PACs) as well as MicroLogix 1500 and certain SLC 500 systems. Digital input modules like the 1769-IQ16 read the on/off state of field devices — pushbuttons, limit switches, proximity sensors, photoelectric sensors, and relay contacts — and pass that data to the controller over the 1769 backplane bus. The sink/source input design accepts both sinking (NPN) and sourcing (PNP) field wiring, which simplifies integration with a wide range of sensor types commonly used in machine control, conveyor systems, packaging lines, and general discrete manufacturing automation. The 1769 platform became widely adopted in the 2000s and 2010s as a mid-size, DIN-rail-friendly alternative to the larger ControlLogix rack system, and 1769 I/O modules remain in active use in facilities that have standardized on CompactLogix.
This Allen-Bradley 1769-IQ16 Compact I/O 16-point DC input module has been visually inspected and appears to be in good used condition. It was pulled from a working environment where it was previously in service, but has not been powered up or tested at our facility.
