Applications
The MDX series is a line of DC magnetron drive power supplies widely used in PVD (physical vapor deposition) sputtering systems for semiconductor fabrication, flat-panel display manufacturing, optical coating, and hard-coating processes. In a typical PVD chamber, the MDX supplies a controlled DC voltage to the sputtering target (cathode), sustaining the plasma needed to eject target material onto the substrate. The slave configuration allows two MDX units to be paralleled under a master controller, effectively doubling the available output power for larger or higher-power targets. Advanced Energy's MDX line became an industry standard in semiconductor and thin-film production environments through the 1990s and 2000s, and replacement and spare units remain in active demand for systems still running this platform.
The Advanced Energy MDX-10K DC Magnetron Slave Power Supply (2012-010-C) has been visually inspected and is in good cosmetic condition overall. It has not been powered up or tested at our facility — it came out of a working semiconductor/PVD environment where it was previously in service. The chassis is clean with no obvious physical damage; the rear cooling fans, connectors, and terminal block all appear intact.
