Applications

The AHA-2940U2W was one of Adaptec's mainstream Ultra2 Wide SCSI cards from the late 1990s, targeting workstations and entry-level servers that needed fast, reliable SCSI storage connectivity. Ultra2 Wide SCSI doubled the bus speed of the earlier Ultra Wide standard (40 MB/s) and introduced LVD signaling, which extended the maximum cable length to 12 meters and reduced signal noise compared to Single-Ended (SE) implementations. These cards were commonly used to connect SCSI hard drive arrays, DAT and DLT tape libraries, and CD-ROM towers in Windows NT, Windows 2000, Linux, and Novell NetWare server environments. Today they remain in demand for legacy workstation builds, vintage server restorations, and any application still running SCSI storage hardware from that era.
