Description
ALPS KCCCA031 Compact Mechanical Keyboard Made in Japan Vintage ALPS Switches
The ALPS KCCCA031 is a compact tenkeyless mechanical keyboard manufactured by ALPS Electric in Japan. It features ALPS mechanical switches — visible in the photos with their characteristic orange/red actuator stems and black housings — and a two-tone grey keycap set on a steel mounting plate. The compact layout omits a dedicated numpad, making it smaller than a full-size board while retaining a cursor cluster and function keys.

Applications
ALPS Electric was one of the premier switch and keyboard manufacturers of the 1980s and early 1990s, supplying mechanical keyboard assemblies to numerous computer and terminal OEMs during that era. ALPS SKCC-series switches were used in keyboards for Apple, Atari, Commodore, and a wide range of terminal and workstation manufacturers. The KCCCA031's compact layout, CLEAR key, and cursor cluster are characteristic of keyboards designed for specific computer systems of the period — likely an Apple II-family machine or a similar proprietary terminal platform from the mid-to-late 1980s. Today, these keyboards are sought by vintage computer restorers looking for period-correct replacement parts, as well as mechanical keyboard enthusiasts who prize vintage ALPS switches for their tactile feel and historical significance. ALPS switches from this era are no longer manufactured in the original SKCC form, making working examples with intact switches increasingly collectible.
This ALPS KCCCA031 compact mechanical keyboard has been inspected and appears to be in good used condition. The two-tone grey keycaps are present and show normal wear consistent with age. The metal plate and housing are intact with no visible cracks or major damage. Photos show the keycaps removed to document the ALPS mechanical switches underneath — the switches and plate appear clean and undamaged. One keycap position in the upper-right cluster may be empty; please review the photos carefully to confirm the keycap complement before purchasing. No cable is included. Please view our photo set and contact us if you have any questions.
