The Asante EN/SC is an external SCSI-to-Ethernet adapter that connects computers equipped with a DB-25 SCSI interface directly to an Ethernet network — no internal expansion slot required. It supports both 10Base-2 (thin coaxial/BNC) and AUI (15-pin DIX, for 10Base-5 or external transceivers) Ethernet connections. Three front-panel LED indicators — Power, Traffic, and Link — provide at-a-glance network status monitoring.

Applications
The Asante EN/SC was designed for the Apple Macintosh and other personal computers of the early-to-mid 1990s that lacked a built-in Ethernet port but had an external SCSI port — a common situation on compact Macs, older Mac IIs, and early PowerBooks. By presenting itself as a SCSI device, the EN/SC allowed these machines to join a 10 Mbps Ethernet segment without opening the case or requiring an NuBus, PDS, or LC card. The 10Base-2 BNC connector was the dominant wiring standard in small office and lab networks of that era, using thin coaxial cable in a daisy-chain bus topology, while the AUI port allowed connection to an external 10Base-T or 10Base-5 transceiver for greater flexibility. External SCSI Ethernet adapters like the EN/SC were also popular for early Unix workstations and other systems with SCSI but limited internal expansion. This is a mid-1990s piece of vintage networking hardware with collector and legacy-system-maintenance appeal.
This Asante EN/SC SCSI to Ethernet Adapter has been inspected and appears to be in good used condition. It was pulled from a working environment where it was previously in use. The unit shows light surface wear consistent with normal use — some scuffing on the top housing is visible in photos. All three front-panel LED indicators (Power, Traffic, Link) are present and intact. It has not been powered up or tested at our facility.
