Applications
The Ascend MAX 4000 series was a widely deployed enterprise and service-provider WAN access platform from the mid-to-late 1990s. These routers were commonly used to aggregate T1 and ISDN WAN connections at corporate headquarters, branch offices, Internet service providers, and telecom central offices. The MXHP-4T1 variant specifically supported four T1 circuits, making it suitable for multi-site WAN aggregation or ISP dial-access applications. The MAX 4000 line competed with Cisco and 3Com/US Robotics access platforms during the era when T1 leased lines and ISDN were the dominant wide-area connectivity technologies before broadband displaced them in the early 2000s. These units are still sought for legacy network lab environments, spare parts, and retro-networking projects.
This Ascend MXHP-4T1 MAX 4000 T1 WAN Router is being sold AS-IS for parts or repair. It is not in working order and has not been tested at our facility. The chassis is intact and the rear panel connectors appear physically present, though the top lid and front panel show cosmetic scuffs and scratches consistent with prior use.
