Applications
The Mac Mini A1176 was Apple's entry-level desktop Mac when Intel processors replaced PowerPC in 2006, making it the first Intel Core Duo Mac Mini. It runs Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6.8), the last version of OS X to support Rosetta, which allowed legacy PowerPC applications to run alongside native Intel software. This made it a popular transitional machine in both home and small-office settings. Today these units are used primarily for legacy Mac OS X software compatibility, retro computing, lightweight home server tasks (such as a Time Machine backup server or media server via iTunes), and as an inexpensive introduction to the Mac platform. The DVI output, FireWire 400, and four USB 2.0 ports make it compatible with a wide range of monitors and peripherals from its era. It is not compatible with macOS versions beyond Snow Leopard due to its 32-bit EFI firmware.
This Apple Mac Mini A1176 desktop computer has been inspected and appears to be in good used condition. Mac OS X 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) is installed on the hard drive; no install disc is included and iLife software is not installed. The aluminum enclosure shows minor surface marks and light scuffing consistent with normal use — visible on the front edge. The included Apple 110W AC adapter (A1188) and power cord are present.
